The irrepressible Amazon.com swept the Internet world off its feet like a hurricane with its excellent affiliate program. If my memory is not failing, I remember this event started in the year 1983.

However, the string of events that followed the high success of Amazon affiliate marketing subsequently changed the online affiliate marketing forever. 

Unfortunately, over the years, many flaws have been become the 'mantra' of most affiliate program networks that came after Amazon.com. The resultant effect is that, today, more and more affiliates are struggling and poor. 

Before I delve into the reasons let me briefly tell you the basic of affiliate program. (Sorry if you're an experienced marketer...you can skip this part and scroll down)

An online affiliate program allows you to promote another company's products or services and earn a pre-determined $$$commissions on each sale. What this means is that you are simply leveraging the success the original owners have put into developing the products.

Why you need the network affiliate program online

Because you don't have a product you owned. But some independent companies like Clickbank affiliate networks act as 'store houses' for product owners and willing affiliates registered with them to promote the products. 

Some of the most popular networks are Clickbank affiliate program, Commission Junction, Paydotcom and others.

How to join any of these online affiliate networks? 

Condition of entry differs from one program to another. The condition posed by some networks is as hard as locating the graveyard of your pre-historic forefathers. While others like clickbank affiliate program is as easy as filling a simple form.

But they all have flaws that will kill your expectations. However, most genuine affiliate marketers haven’t discovered the inherent flaws within and around these networks. Why is this so? Because most affiliates normally approach the business with very shallow mindset!

As an example, how can an affiliate listen to any one claiming that without these affiliate network programs, the entire affiliate marketing world will collapse?

They lack training resources to help affiliates grow

Because these affiliate networks are merely 'storing' products, they don't care and they don't bother giving you any further direction to succeed. In order words, if you join any of one, you are on your own.

Whether you succeed (or how you succeed) or fail (and how you fail) do not matter to them at all! This is one of the principal reasons about 92% affiliates on these online affiliate networks are frustrated and poorest online!

Super TIP:
Let me tell you a secret. Both new and experienced affiliate marketers will always need fresh and constant marketing ideas to progress online. No man is an island! Unfortunately these big networks do not have resources and supports to assist you grow online.

Now can you guess why there are arrays of ‘expert marketers’ claiming they can show you how to succeed selling Clickbank products or CJ secrets? The reason should be obvious to you now…

It's simply because the networks do not have marketing resource you can access freely. If you belong to an affiliate program that posses money making guides, would you bother listening to those 'self-styled gurus' who're interested in selling their latest ‘clickbank magic formulas’ to you?

Too bad! Thousands of people have bought such 'miracle books' only to realize they’ve been deceived and cheated. Anyway, the truth is that there're NO ‘top secrets’ needed to sell Clickbank and other networks products. 

Flaw #2:

They do not have brainstorming community or forum

I wonder what is the benefit of any network marketing affiliate program devoid of a brainstorming platform for members? An affiliate program that has no place where can freely talk about winning ideas and other ways to help each other make money online should be avoided except you're vastly experienced!

Flaw #3:

The problem of poor or slow support

Well I cannot really say for you. But if you ask me, a network without such support will make me miserable. I would not have been so fast in learning and be encouraged to move ahead in my affiliate marketing business.

 

Flaw #4:

You can get cheated easily

It is a known fact that every affiliate marketing network program has some merchants with bad conducts. And some networks such as Clickbank will quickly ban any merchant found wanting. However, YOU - the affiliate will suffer without compensation!

Let me paint an example for you…

Let’s say you mistakenly promote a poor product. Sooner than later, customers will discover this and will lodge complaints and many will definitely ask for refunds.

Friend, do you understand how this will affect you badly? You see, once a refund is sought, YOU (the affiliate marketer) will also forfeit your commission! And it does not matter how much efforts and expenses you may have expended that got you the sale.

The standing rule is this – you will LOSE your commission to pay for the lousy merchant and negligence of the affiliate network.


Flaw #5:

No positive rapport

Coming close to the above is the fact that affiliates are operating at FAR FLUNG angle to the network management. Since the operational module is "every one to himself" then, you are far to the manager, so you are far to other affiliates on the same network you belong.

For example, Clickbank has over 100,000 registered affiliates, yet there is no common place to discuss valid ideas. Even affiliates on the same network do regard themselves as sworn enemies.  
 
But the truth is, a “NETWORK” will spin more benefits if the members are close to each to share ideas like one family. And not aliens!


Flaw #6:

They are operating very rigid administration

They are very 'traditional' and some believe they are the godfathers! 

There are some networks that consider it insult when you write them a mail and may not bother reply you at all. Some may reply but very late and in most cases, the replies will comes with concise words that cannot help your much.

Basically, their actions, most times, speak volume of the fact that affiliates marketers who signed up with them DO not really matter and not very important to them. For example, I’ve heard of cases when affiliate accounts were abruptly canceled for making little mistakes. Some networks are known to carry out probes of affiliates on mere suspicion.

Now do you see the action of a godfather in all these now? You see, in a normal business situation where is mutual respect do you think you will have to face such insults?

Anyway, these online affiliate networks have continued to operate this way because most affiliate marketers will just complain or murmur among themselves on forums and will remain glue to them like hair on the head!

Again, do you still remember the herd mentality factor now?


Flaw #7:

Their commissions are generally poor

You may hate me for saying this. I hate those teeny 10% commission or $15, $20, $22 commissions these online affiliate networks are paying. 

And do not be deceive when the commission is high 50% or 65% payout. The reason is because the real dollar equivalent may not be more than $20 to $30!

Here is a little secret: The same marketing effort you’ll use to make lousy $20 will also bring in $150, $160, $175, and up to $223!
